On a cool drizzly Saturday morning, I planted several shrubby cinquefoil,
Dasifora (
Potentilla)
fruticosa, along our Atlantic white cedar-pole fence. Its bright yellow flowers add a bit of extra color to the garden and contrast nicely with the green foliage in the background. This widely-distributed shrub in the northern parts of North America, Europe, and Asia is quite hardy, especially in colder climates such as here in the Gaspe Peninsula.
